CedarS 50th Celebration, Aug 19-22, 2011

PROGRAM RATES are as follows:

  • Adults and children age 7 and over: $50 per day or $150 for the full weekend
  • Children ages 1-6: $20 per day or $60 for the full weekend
  • Children under 1 year old may attend for free

These fees cover meals, activities, and cabin bunk-bed accommodations for those aged 7 and up on a first-come, first-served basis.  Early registration will open online on August 19th, 2010 -- one year prior to the reunion, at which point a down-payment of $75 will secure your family’s reservation.

ACCOMMODATIONS:  Outlined below are several on-camp and off-site accommodation options:

On-Camp Options: On-camp housing will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once cabins are filled, attendees will need to book a room in Lebanon. There will be no program discount for people who register after all bunks have been filled, so if you want to stay on camp property, please book your reservations early!

  • Cabins:  We are expecting a large number of people and are prepared to utilize every available bunk on camp property.  To allow for the maximum number of people to stay at camp, adults and children age 7 and up will stay in a cabin with people of the same gender.  You can anticipate sharing cabin and bathroom facilities with approximately 12 people.  Cabins will be grouped so that families/couples/friends can stay in the same general vicinity.  As pictured above, our screened-in cabins all include in-house bathrooms, fans (but not air conditioning), and twin-sized bunks.  Those staying in cabins will need to bring their own linens; they may also sign up for a rental linen package (including twin sheets, blanket, pillow, towel, and washcloth) for an additional $10.  Sleeping bags rentals will also be available for an additional $7.  These limited rental supplies are primarily intended for those who are flying in for the reunion.
     
  • Tent Camping:  If you are prepared to “rough it,” you are welcome to pitch your own tent in one of the designated spaces around camp for tent camping.  Tent camping areas will include assigned shower and bathroom facilities.
     
  • Young Family Housing:  NOW FULL - We need to request that families with children under the age of 7 stay in “Young Family Housing.”  There will be designated blocks of rooms on camp property, with air conditioning and accompanying bathrooms, especially reserved for young families.  Linens will be provided.  On top of the regular program fee, young family housing will cost an additional $50/family per night or $150/family for the entire weekend.  Parents with infants will need to bring their own cribs & baby bedding.(See the FAQ for more information on high chairs and boosters).
     
  • Additional Air Conditioned Rooms:  If all of Cedars’ air conditioned rooms are not filled up by young families, we will open them up to other attendees for an additional $30/person per night.  When you register, you will be given an opportunity to place your name on the waiting list for an on-site air conditioned room.  Approximately two weeks in advance of the event, we will let you know if these rooms have become available.
     

Off-Camp Options:  To get our special Cedars group rates, please contact these hotels and campgrounds directly and tell them that you are part of “Cedars Camps 50th Celebration.”

  • Hampton Inn:  (417) 533-3100, Doubles, Queens or Kings for $89.  Rooms will be held until August 5th, 2011, 2 weeks before the event.
     
  • Holiday Inn Express:  (417) 532-1111, Singles or Queens for $89.  Rooms will be held until August 5th, 2011, 2 weeks before the event.
     
  • RV Accommodations:  We have reserved ten RV hookups at the KOA Campground in Phillipsburg, Missouri, approximately 16 miles away from Cedars.  They will be reserved until August 5th, 2011.  Full hookups (water, electric, and sewer) cost $30/night at 50 amps and $28/night at 30 amps.  Although Cedars does not have its own RV hookups, you are welcome to come and park your RV at Cedars during the day.  To reserve a spot at Lebanon’s RV park, please call (417) 532-3422.  (Address:  18376 Campground Rd, Phillipsburg, Missouri 65722.)
     

TRANSPORTATION:

Cedars Express:  Thanks to a generous donation, an air conditioned Cedars Express bus will be provided free of charge from St. Louis to Cedars and back.  The bus will leave from the Principia Upper School campus at 1:30pm sharp on Friday, August 19th.  From there, we will head to the St. Louis airport for a 2:00pm pickup and arrive at Cedars around 5:00pm.  It will depart from Cedars at 10:00am on Monday, August 22nd, arrive at the airport at 1pm and Principia at 1:30pm.  Drop off and pick up will be at the McCalmont Girls’ Gym on the Principia St. Louis camps; weekend parking will be available at the Principia.  If you wish to use Cedars Express, please email office@cedarscamps.org or call 417-532-6699 for arrival and/or departure as well as how many are in your party.  Do let us know if you will be taking the bus from the St. Louis Principia Campus or from the St. Louis Airport at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.

For those flying into the St. Louis Airport:  To ensure a seat on the Cedars Express bus, please schedule your flight to arrive in St. Louis on Friday, August 19th by 1:30pm at the very latest.  The airport bus will pick up all passengers at 2:00pm.  Please schedule your departure from the St. Louis airport on Monday, August 22nd after 3:00pm.  We cannot guarantee that you will make a flight that leaves prior to 3:00pm.  For those arriving at the St. Louis Airport on Friday, August 19th into Terminal 1, please come to the Meeting Place at the baggage claim area by 1:45pm. For those coming into Terminal 2, please meet directly outside baggage claim in the area with seats by 1:45pm. There will be a representative from Cedars Camps at both terminals to guide you to the CEDARS Express bus at 1:45pm for the 2pm departure.

Hotel Shuttle:  We will offer a daily shuttle between Lebanon and Cedars.  It will pick up guests from the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express Lebanon hotels in the morning and arrive at Cedars just before breakfast. In the evenings, the shuttle will depart from Cedars for the Lebanon hotels in two shifts: an “early” shift leaving directly after the evening activity and a “late” shift leaving after extended social time at Dawn Lodge.

Rental Cars:  If you are unable to make the Cedars Express arrival and departure windows or would prefer to have your own wheels, car rentals are available at the St. Louis airport.  There will be free on-site parking at Cedars, but we are encouraging anyone who can catch the Cedars Express to do so in order to reduce car traffic on camp and to help ensure that there will be enough parking spaces for all.
