Frequently Asked Questions

CedarS 50th Celebration, Aug 19-22, 2011

I haven’t been back to camp in many years and wouldn’t know anyone. Should I come anyway?
Certainly! We love having our dear former campers and counselors return!  And you can always find old friends on the Cedars Alumni directory and make plans to attend together.  No one’s a stranger at CedarS.

Won’t things be different at camp than what I remember back in the old days?
While there have been many new buildings and additions (bathrooms in each cabin, an expanded Dawn Lodge, a large aquatics center), the loving atmosphere has remained constant.  When you drive through the front gate, you will still recognize the surroundings, and will feel the joy of coming home.

I’m not practicing Christian Science.  Am I still welcome?
Absolutely!  No matter where you are in life’s journey, you are a member of the CedarS family and will always be welcomed home.  We will have both a Journal-listed Christian Science Practitioner and Nurse on duty to meet any need that arises.  Alternately, there is a fine regional medical center right in Lebanon if that care would better meet your need.

Can I bring my children?
Of course; however, at this unique event (unlike our regular Family Camp programs) we expect that you will enjoy activities with your family and be responsible for supervising your children.  We will have family-friendly activities that you can enjoy together.  There will be limited child care available during the evening activities.  See the registration form for details.

My spouse has never been to CedarS. Would he/she feel comfortable here?
We embrace everyone at camp.  Many “first-timers” come every summer, including spouses at family camp, where they meet new friends and feel included the moment they arrive.

What’s the food like these days at camp?
CedarS offers an abundant variety of fresh delicious, wholesome food, including a bountiful salad & fruit bar at lunch and dinner and a cereal bar at breakfast.  There are choices to please everyone at each meal, including meatless options.  If you do prefer vegetarian fare, please let us know so we can get a count and have enough.

What activities will be offered?
Many of the classic camp activities: horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, archery, nature walks, crafts, etc... as well as exciting newer activities such as the water slide, high ropes course, climbing and bouldering walls.

Can I get cell phone and internet coverage out there?
Cell phone coverage is actually pretty good, especially for AT&T which has a nearby cell tower.  There is Wi-Fi in Dawn Lodge.

Does Cedars have items for small children such as high chairs and booster seats?
Cedars has a handful of such items that will be available to reunion attendees at no additional cost, and when you register, you will be given the option of reserving them for the weekend. However, we could certainly use more high chairs & booster seats -- and we will gratefully accept any donated items that are in good condition! Parents are asked to bring their own portable cribs for infants.
